Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, received $18 million in total compensation in 2025. This information was disclosed in the company's IPO documents, reported Reuters. The majority of the compensation came from stocks and options rather than salary. His annual salary, along with that of his sister and Anthropic President Daniela Amodei, was doubled in July to $1.4 million each. Daniela received $16.4 million in total compensation in 2025, also primarily from stocks and options. The board of directors additionally granted both restricted stock units: some tied to continued employment, some to the planned IPO.
Anthropic's Chief Financial Officer Krishna Rao received $720,250 in 2025. Upon joining the company in 2024, he was granted options for 1.4 million shares, and last year he exercised options worth $385,285. Amodei's compensation is higher than Sundar Pichai of Alphabet, who received $10.9 million, and Andy Jassy of Amazon, who received $2.1 million, according to Reuters. However, it is lower than some of the highest-paid industry executives: Oracle co-director Clayton Magouyrk received $627.5 million in 2025, and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang $49.9 million, according to corporate documents. The average annual CEO compensation in the S&P 500 increased by 21% to $22.8 million in 2025, according to AFL-CIO.
Courtney Yu, director of research at Equilar, said that $18 million for a company valued at $2 trillion "seems on the lower end," although the situation may change after Anthropic goes public and the founder's full stake is disclosed. Considering the six other co-founders, Amodei may ultimately receive a smaller share of the IPO-created wealth compared to other major tech CEOs, Yu noted. Currently, the IPO documents do not disclose the founders' stakes in Anthropic, and they could be worth billions depending on the final terms and valuation. Anthropic is preparing for a potential listing amid rapid growth and rising valuations in the AI sector. The company is reportedly targeting an IPO as early as November with a valuation between $1.8 and $2 trillion, with formal marketing of the offering expected the week of November 9. The quarterly revenue of Claude's developer increased by 1360% to over $11.5 billion from $787 million in the same quarter of 2025. Anthropic was valued at $965 billion in the latest private round and confidentially filed for an IPO earlier this year. Meanwhile, OpenAI is seeking at least $30 billion in fresh funding at a valuation of around $1.4 trillion.
