Deepsigma, a decentralized perpetual futures exchange, has launched a platform with a demo version for real-time paper trading. The demo covers 77 traditional financial markets. The project team consists of former employees from Goldman Sachs, Citadel Securities, Google, and Uber. Traders can open long or short positions on U.S. stocks, stock indices, sector ETFs, commodities, and treasury bond yields. Instead of tokenization, custody, or physical delivery of underlying assets, Deepsigma's perpetual contracts track prices using external market data feeds. The project is built on the Cypherium Layer 1 blockchain and aims to integrate the perpetual futures model into traditional financial instruments. The demo supports contracts on the S&P 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average, Nasdaq Composite, Russell 2000, and the Cboe Volatility Index (VIX). Contracts on crude oil, gold, silver, natural gas, and copper are also available.
To account for price fluctuations outside trading hours and liquidity gaps, DeepSigma's risk management mechanism includes external price feeds from multiple sources, price adjustments to prevent short-term manipulation, automatic trading halts, partial position liquidation, and an insurance fund. The platform operates on a central limit order book model combined with a clearing layer for managing margin, collateral, and settlements. The interface also includes an off-chain AI-based analysis tool that provides strategic recommendations without authority over users' funds. Unlike fully permissionless cryptocurrency platforms, Deepsigma is developing a system with U.S. regulatory compliance in mind. The exchange is creating a decentralized identification system based on zero-knowledge proofs.
Sky Guo, CEO of Deepsigma and founder of Cypherium, noted that traditional assets present unique operational challenges compared to cryptocurrencies, including non-24/7 trading hours, fragmented pricing, and specific regulatory requirements. According to him, cryptocurrencies have already demonstrated demand for perpetual futures markets, but one cannot simply take the same model and apply it to stock or commodity tickers. Real markets differ in trading hours, liquidity conditions, pricing sources, and regulatory features, and DeepSigma was created with these differences in mind. The Cypherium blockchain uses a hybrid consensus mechanism combining proof of work (PoW) and the Hotstuff Byzantine fault tolerance mechanism, protected by four U.S. patents.
