Disney transfers developers to OpenAI Codex and abandons some of the previous AI tools

The Disney Corporation has launched a large-scale update of its own set of artificial intelligence tools for software development, relying on the OpenAI Codex platform. According to Business Insider, the company is gradually phasing out the use of GitHub Copilot and a number of other software code generation services, transferring engineering teams to new solutions. At the same time, developers will retain access to Claude Enterprise from Anthropic and the Cursor platform, which are already actively used in various divisions of Disney. Internally, the decision is explained by the desire to increase the speed of development and provide engineers with tools that better meet the current requirements of large software projects.
According to the publication, Disney is also implementing an internal monitoring system for the use of AI tools, which allows analyzing the effectiveness of various platforms in performing engineering tasks. This approach helps to assess the impact of generative artificial intelligence on team productivity, the quality of software being created, and the speed of new digital product releases. Industry representatives point out that large technology companies are increasingly using multiple artificial intelligence models simultaneously, distributing various types of tasks between them, from writing software code to preparing technical documentation and automating testing.
Experts believe that such changes reflect a new stage in the development of the AI tools market for developers. Previously, companies chose universal solutions, but today they are striving to form their own ecosystems combining several specialized services at once. The competition between OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft and other market participants is gradually shifting from demonstrating the capabilities of models to the actual effectiveness of their application in a corporate environment. As a result, the largest employers are becoming not only consumers of artificial intelligence, but also a platform for evaluating its practical value in creating complex software products.
