Dogecoin Launched in Solana Ecosystem with Trading Volume of $19 Million

Dogecoin gained access to the Solana network thanks to the Sunrise protocol, reports AMBCrypto. Since September 7, users can utilize DOGE within the Solana ecosystem without the need to go through a multi-step traditional bridging process. Sunrise is a cross-chain liquidity gateway built into the Wormhole infrastructure, designed to transfer assets from other blockchains to Solana in a standardized manner. In the first three hours after launch, DOGE generated over $10 million in trading volume on Solana, and within 24 hours, this figure reached $19 million.

The protocol uses a single minting process for incoming assets, preventing the emergence of competing versions of DOGE and liquidity fragmentation on Solana. Previously, Dogecoin had limited functionality in DeFi applications, as its blockchain was primarily focused on payments. Now, DOGE can be used on platforms like Raydium, Jupiter, and Kamino, granting users access to trading, liquidity provision, and other financial applications. Despite the active start on Solana, the price of DOGE at the time of publication was $0.08915, and the coin had decreased over the past 24 hours. However, over the past month, Dogecoin has shown a growth of 27.2%, although traders seem to be losing momentum — selling pressure has increased, and overall trading activity has declined.

This integration could act as a catalyst for a new wave of DOGE liquidity and meme coin activity on Solana, but long-term success will depend on sustained trading volume and activity, not just the initial spike on launch day. The perpetual futures market for Dogecoin remains highly volatile with sharp liquidation spikes in the range of approximately $0.08–$0.09. Meanwhile, the market capitalization of meme coins on Solana was $3.69 billion at the time of publication, down 3.4% over the last 24 hours.
