Ethereum Foundation updates development strategy: focus on scalability and sustainability

The Ethereum Foundation has presented an updated roadmap for 2026, identifying three key vectors: increasing throughput, improving user experience, and strengthening the network's base layer. The foundation emphasized that 2025 was one of the most productive years for the ecosystem, with two major upgrades implemented and progress made in strategic areas. However, further development requires adjusting priorities to take into account the growing demands of the community.
In the scaling block, developers will focus on increasing L1 throughput and expanding data accessibility. The second block concerns simplifying interaction with the network. The priority is to implement native account abstraction and develop interoperability. The third area is preserving the fundamental characteristics of the network amid accelerated scaling.
Separately, it was noted that there have been personnel changes at the Ethereum Foundation — Tomasz Stanczak has stepped down as executive director.
