Gate Launches Crypto Card with Visa in Over 40 Countries

Gate announced the launch of a cryptocurrency card linked to Visa in more than 40 countries and territories. As reported by Gate on October 8, the card will connect Gate account balances with the Visa payment network: cryptocurrency will be automatically converted into fiat currency at the time of purchase, and merchants will receive a standard Visa payment without the need to process digital assets directly. The card can be applied for and managed through the Gate app. A complete public list of supported markets is not included in the announcement: availability, user requirements, and asset lists depend on local restrictions and the product page.

According to Gate, the Instant Spend Mode supports USDT, BTC, ETH, and GT; the prepaid mode supports a wider range, but the specific list depends on the type of card, issuer, and region. Level 2 identity verification is required to apply, and for some types of cards– address verification; approval depends on the place of residence, verification status, and compliance checks. Gate's founder and CEO Dr. Han described the partnership as a way to make payments using digital assets "more intuitive and better suited to everyday needs."

The announcement is not Gate's first payment card launch: products for several regions, including virtual and physical cards, were available earlier in 2026. In July, Gate entered the US card market: on July 10, Gate US launched a Visa card in partnership with Visa, Stripe, and Bridge, allowing eligible American users to spend supported stablecoins, including USDC. The issuer of this prepaid debit card is Lead Bank, and the program is managed by Bridge.

The card will become part of the Gate Money service, announced a day earlier on October 7 at TOKEN2049 during Dr. Han's speech. The service integrates cryptocurrencies, fiat currencies, stocks, ETFs, gold, banking services, and payments within the Gate app. Gate Money can be activated after updating the app to version 8.39.0.

According to Visa, the network accepts cards at more than 175 million locations in over 200 countries and territories. On September 8, Visa reported that in its second fiscal quarter, more than 160 card programs linked to stablecoins were operational, and payment volumes through them grew by nearly 200% year-over-year.
