Google has unveiled ambitious plans to lay three new submarine cable systems in the Americas. This initiative is being implemented as part of the Americas Connect program and aims to create direct connections between Chile, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Bermuda and the state of Florida. The new lines, together with existing investments, will significantly increase the network's capacity. They will also provide the company's global infrastructure with more alternative and reliable routes for secure data transmission.

One of the new systems, called Alisios, will connect the Dominican Republic, Panama and Chile. The Pacific part of this network will form a reliable ring between Chile and Panama with an additional connection going to the west coast of the United States. These routes will connect to Google cloud regions in Chile, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. In the Caribbean, Alisios will combine with a separate ring that will provide access to cloud data centers in South Carolina and Virginia. The company is also laying the Canoa cable between the Dominican Republic and Bermuda to create direct connections to Europe. The third OlaLuz cable will connect the Dominican Republic to Florida, increasing capacity between the Caribbean and the east coast of the United States.

Additionally, Google is adding a new branch to the existing Firmina system with landfall in the Dominican Republic. The technology giant focuses on channel redundancy and increasing overall bandwidth. The planned systems will provide the company with more direct routes between its cloud regions in the Americas. Chile occupies a key place in this strategic expansion of infrastructure. The country is actively striving to become a major regional digital hub, relying on a modern fiber-optic network and renewable energy resources. Google is also supporting the ambitious Humboldt cable project, which will connect Chile and Australia across the Pacific Ocean in the future.
