The developers of the decentralized perpetual futures exchange Hyperliquid are preparing to implement the open deployment of prediction markets as part of the HIP-4 update. According to the official statement of the team, the ability to create contracts without the need for special permits is critical for the growth of this area. This is due to the huge scale of the potentially tradable outcomes of various events. However, this solution must be thoroughly tested in a controlled environment where deployment is managed by network validators. After the update is completed, the creators of the markets will have the opportunity to launch their sites based on approved standardized templates that are securely stored directly in the blockchain. Hyperliquid emphasized that the set of these templates should cover events with sufficient liquidity, and their formulations should remain extremely unambiguous.
To launch their own market according to the HIP-4 standard, depositors will need to block a substantial deposit of 500,000 HYPE tokens. This mechanism acts as a reliable guarantee of security, since validators reserve the right to partially or completely withdraw this deposit in case of incorrect description of the market or erroneous fulfillment of the terms of the smart contract. At the initial stage, each creator will receive a quota that allows you to set up to 100 outcomes, which is equivalent to 200 outcome tokens. To meet the growing demand, the development team plans to introduce a special auction mechanism in the future, which will increase these limits. At the same time, the commission in such markets can reach 50 percent, although the final launch parameters can still be adjusted following an active discussion with the community.
Despite the emergence of new opportunities for independent creators, the platform team assured users of maintaining the usual tools. Network participants will still be able to launch canonical prediction markets directly through the official Hyperliquid interface. The HIP-4 update itself was initiated back in May, and since then, the protocol has successfully processed transactions totaling about $272 million. This steady growth is fully consistent with the overall market dominance of the platform. Recall that in June, the volume of open interest on Hyperliquid confidently surpassed the $10 billion mark, which allowed the site to take the third place among the world's largest perpetual futures trading centers in the ecosystem of decentralized finance.
