The non-profit Hyperliquid Foundation has announced the creation of the Hyperliquid Policy Center, a new initiative focused on shaping the regulatory agenda for decentralized finance in the US. The center will be headed by Jake Chervinsky, former head of legal at Variant Fund and member of the Blockchain Association's board of directors. Hyperliquid expects that his experience will strengthen the industry's position in its dialogue with US lawmakers.
To finance the project, the fund has allocated 1 million HYPE tokens, with a market value of approximately $29 million. The coins are scheduled to be unlocked on February 18. The company notes that the goal of the new structure is to ensure the presence of the DeFi community in Washington and to bridge the gap between existing legal norms and the infrastructure of new-generation digital markets.
The Hyperliquid Policy Center plans to focus on the most complex regulatory issues, primarily in the derivatives and decentralized finance segments. Among the announced areas of work are the preparation of analytical studies, expert opinions on draft legislation, and advisory support for policymakers studying the mechanisms of DeFi.
