Hyperliquid Users Encounter Wallet Lockouts After Interacting with HTX

A Hyperliquid user with the nickname x256 hl reported that his wallet was flagged as high-risk after receiving a payment from a friend who used the HTX crypto exchange. He wrote about this on X on October 25. According to him, he never used HTX and was unaware of the platform's sanction issues. A few months ago, he lent his friend several thousand dollars, and the repayment came through HTX, formerly Huobi.
Another user, @0xasrequired, reported a similar issue: three of his wallets were restricted from accessing the official Hyperliquid interface in June – on June 2 and 5 – after transactions with HTX. These wallets accounted for 99.5% of his net capital, and his trading history included over $210 million in volume, more than $60,000 in trading fees, and another $50,000 in builder fees. Access was maintained through alternative interfaces, but according to him, losing the official one could prevent him from signing terms for future token distributions. In October, he was unable to receive Kinetiq Season 2, even though he was in the top 150.
According to @0xasrequired, conversations with Blockaid, Chainalysis, and TRM showed that providers supply transaction data and risk assessments, and the platform itself makes the decision to impose restrictions. Hyperliquid, he claims, named Chainalysis as the provider – this is not independently confirmed. The wallets passed checks by GoPlus Security and Blockaid, but were still restricted on Hyperliquid. A separate case involved a user named Maxim: his wallet was mistakenly flagged after a $0.02 transaction, and access was later restored. @0xasrequired opened a ticket in Discord and received a response from co-founder iliensinc, but no resolution was provided.
The restrictions followed UK sanctions from May 26, 2026, against Huobi Global S.A. due to services to structures associated with Russia, including A7 and Garantex. HTX contested the application of the decision, citing a separate legal entity; authorities explained that they consider the exchange subject to ownership rules restrictions. In June, FixedFloat suspended funds related to Huobi for verification, ZachXBT criticized the handling of regular users, Kraken and OKX issued warnings, and Binance introduced limits on HTX and 10 other platforms in August. The mechanism for automatic blocking has not been confirmed.
