Interactive Brokers has launched an Ethereum staking service for its clients in partnership with Zerohash. The launch of the new service was announced on October 13. Interactive Brokers manages client assets worth over $903 billion and already offers trading in up to 20 digital assets, including Bitcoin, Solana, XRP, Chainlink, Aave, and Dogecoin. Clients will be able to stake Ethereum through the client portal. The service involves earning rewards in the form of additional staked cryptocurrency. In his presentation, the company's CEO Milan Galik noted that staking provides an opportunity to "earn rewards on the cryptocurrency they already own." This innovation will allow clients to earn more on their assets.
With staking, Interactive Brokers clients will be able to manage their assets, including stocks, options, and futures, in one application. Ethereum staking will be available through the Staking Dashboard in the client portal, where users can submit staking or unstaking requests and track their activity. When rewards are credited, they are added to the already staked cryptocurrency assets, allowing them to accumulate while they remain in a staking state.
In addition to staking, Interactive Brokers offers its existing crypto services, such as wallet transactions, stablecoin funding, and Coinbase derivative futures. The company had previously transitioned to new services, including the ability to move existing crypto positions onto its platform. Clients can transfer supported assets from external wallets to accounts linked with Interactive Brokers without having to sell them first. The launch of Ethereum staking adds to the company's existing offerings, strengthening their position in the cryptocurrency market.
