International Energy Agency: Europe may face a jet fuel shortage by summer

Jet fuel reserves in Europe may reach critical levels within the coming months. According to the International Energy Agency, if current conditions persist, they may only last for approximately six weeks.

The situation in the Middle East and supply restrictions through the Strait of Hormuz remain a key risk factor. This is already leading to higher prices and increased costs for air carriers.

The industry is seeing the first negative signs: airlines are reporting a decline in demand and rising costs. EasyJet, for example, reported a 2% drop in bookings and a $34 million increase in fuel costs in March.

Considering that the aviation sector generates approximately $1 trillion for the European economy and supports 14 million jobs, a further deterioration in the situation could have serious consequences.
