The shares of the company IREN Limited showed a steady increase of six percent on Thursday morning after the publication of important corporate news. The organization officially announced the transfer of the first Horizon 1 facility to Microsoft and the acquisition of the prestigious NVIDIA Exemplar Cloud status for the GB300 NVL72 system. Horizon 1 is the first of four modern data centers with a capacity of fifty megawatts with an advanced chip liquid cooling system. These facilities are specifically designed for resource-intensive cloud computing using artificial intelligence. All four centers are planned to be phased out to Microsoft at the IREN campus in Childress, Texas, during the year 2000. The deliveries are carried out as part of a large-scale five-year cloud services contract worth nine billion seven hundred million dollars, which was concluded back in November last year.
The prestigious Exemplar Cloud status was awarded to IREN after NVIDIA successfully tested the deployment of its advanced GB300 NVL72 system at the Horizon 1 facility. This special designation confirms the ability of the IREN infrastructure to effectively support complex computing loads with artificial intelligence. Testing has confirmed the high performance, reliability and excellent scalability of the technology platform. The company continues to actively plan further expansion of its computing capacities for cloud artificial intelligence. By the end of 2017, it is planned to increase this figure to four hundred and eighty megawatts. And by the year 2000, the company intends to increase the total capacity to an impressive 1.2 gigawatts.
Daniel Roberts, co-founder and Co-Chairman of the Board of IREN, highlighted the successful completion of the Horizon 1 facility. According to him, this project clearly demonstrates the strength of the company's vertically integrated business model and its ability to implement complex projects in the field of artificial intelligence infrastructure quickly and on a large scale. Roberts also stressed that more than three thousand people from the facility's team had made an important contribution to achieving this impressive result. The company confidently plans to deliver the remaining Horizons facilities from the second to the fourth before the end of the current calendar year.
