Kalshi has partnered with BitGo to allow clients to borrow funds against cryptocurrency collateral and use them for margin trading futures. The scheme will cover Bitcoin, Ethereum, and stablecoins that meet the requirements of the GENIUS Act.
According to Bloomberg, the mechanism will be available to clients of Kalshi Prime, the company's US-registered futures broker. Users will be able to borrow funds against digital assets stored in BitGo and direct them to margin positions in futures on the Kalshi exchange without selling crypto assets.
Loans will be provided by Kalshi Katalyst, the lending division of Kalshi Prime. Assets will be held in BitGo Bank & Trust and serve as collateral in a tripartite scheme involving the borrower, lender, and intermediary responsible for the collateral.
"We wanted to give clients the opportunity to stay in cryptocurrencies," explained Kalshi Prime CEO Jeff Bandman. According to him, the company plans to add other custodians over time.
In early 2026, Kalshi began offering perpetual futures on gold, silver, and cryptocurrencies. According to DefiLlama, on October 20, the trading volume was about $1.1 billion, and by October 22, it exceeded $1.2 billion. The company has also approached regulators for permission for perpetual futures on oil and US stocks; last month, its clearing structure Kalshi Klear filed an application with the CFTC for the use of margin for individual event contracts.
Bandman expects the mechanism to make the platform more attractive to crypto trading companies and large holders of digital assets already trading perpetual futures on unregulated platforms.
According to media reports, Kalshi is in talks to raise about $1 billion at a valuation of $40 billion.
