LG has opened pre-orders for the UltraGear 25G590B-B monitor, which became the first device to deliver a 1000 Hz refresh rate at native Full HD resolution. The model is priced by the manufacturer at $999.99 — approximately one dollar per hertz of refresh rate. LG Display had previously confirmed plans to release the new product in the second half of 2026, but the model has already been officially listed on the manufacturer's website. The device features a 25-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.
The key technical distinction of the UltraGear 25G590B-B from competing solutions lies precisely in maintaining resolution at maximum frame rate. AntGamer, Acer, and AOC have previously announced monitors with 1000 Hz support, but most of them achieve this refresh rate only at 720p resolution using dynamic resolution scaling technology. The LG model supports 1000 Hz without any reduction in image detail, ensuring full picture clarity is preserved in fast-paced scenes.
In terms of connectivity, the monitor meets modern technical requirements. The device is equipped with a DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 port, required for uncompressed video signal transmission, as well as a pair of HDMI ports for connecting various signal sources. The monitor supports AMD FreeSync Premium technology and is compatible with NVIDIA G-Sync, providing frame rate synchronization and eliminating screen tearing in dynamic scenes. The use of an IPS panel delivers wide viewing angles compared to VA panels, although it falls short of OLED technology in terms of contrast ratio and black depth.
The monitor's price positioning targets a specific consumer segment. At a comparable price point, the market offers OLED monitors with high refresh rates and superior image quality, while some models in this class are available starting from $299. The practical benefit of a 1000 Hz refresh rate is also a subject of technical debate, as the difference between such panels and those with 300–500 Hz refresh rates is minimal for human perception. As a result, the new product is aimed primarily at enthusiasts and professional esports players for whom the use of equipment with record-breaking technical specifications matters in itself.
