Bitcoin posted significant gains, surpassing the $80,000 mark for the first time since the beginning of summer. Over the week, the asset's value increased by 25%. At its peak, the price of the leading cryptocurrency exceeded $81,300, marking its highest level since early May 2026. Over the past 24 hours, the asset gained 4%. As of 11:00 Moscow time on August 25, the price was trading around $80,100.
Financial analysts surveyed assessed the current market environment and the factors driving price dynamics. Nikita Bredikhin, Lead Investment Analyst at Go Invest, noted that the asset had risen by nearly 30% over the past 10 days, representing a strong impulse following a period of record-low volatility. The expert also pointed out that the price continues to hold within the established trading channel of $60,000 to $82,000.
As medium-term macroeconomic factors, the analyst highlighted moderate inflation dynamics and a cooling U.S. labor market. An additional influence on the market comes from the U.S. Treasury's long-term bond buyback program, which is helping to contain rising yields. It was also noted that weaker performance in the semiconductor and memory chip sectors is contributing to a capital rotation — with yield-seeking investors moving into more volatile markets, including crypto.
Nevertheless, Nikita Bredikhin does not expect a fully fledged uptrend to form in the near term, citing sustained pressure from the U.S. Federal Reserve's (Fed) elevated interest rates. In his assessment, the market's further trajectory will largely depend on Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's speech at the annual economic symposium in Jackson Hole, scheduled for August 27–29. Should the regulator's tone on monetary policy prove more dovish, the rally could gain further momentum. The analyst's base scenario assumes a sideways movement within the current price channel amid sustained high volatility.
Alexander Kraiko, Lead Analyst at crypto broker Cifra Markets, views the current rally as a sign of a trend reversal rather than a short-term technical rebound. Drawing on historical analogies, the expert noted that following similar impulses, price gains have often continued at an accelerated pace. Kraiko suggested that a move toward the $90,000 level could take anywhere from 7 to 25 days, averaging around two weeks. Under this scenario, after testing the $82,000 mark, Bitcoin may enter a brief consolidation phase before resuming its upward movement.
Analysts also cite continued inflows into spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) as an additional factor supporting the asset's market valuation. According to publicly available data, net inflows into these financial instruments over the past six trading sessions totaled approximately $2.2 billion.
