Ledger has introduced the Atom device based on Android, which combines the functions of a hardware crypto wallet and a smartphone. The presentation took place on October 15, 2026, at the Op3n event in Paris. The device supports Android applications but does not provide regular voice calls and SMS. The company noted that the novelty is not intended to replace the main phone.
Atom operates on AOSP and Ledger OS. For cryptocurrency operations, a separate Secure Mode is provided, isolated from Android using an FPGA chip. According to Ledger, third-party applications will not be able to alter the transaction content that the user sees when signing. Operations are protected by a Secure Element chip with EAL6+ certification.
Features include a 6.77-inch OLED display, Qualcomm Dragonwing processor, 4000 mAh battery, camera and microphone power switch, GPG/OpenPGP support, integration with Solana Mobile, and five years of Android updates. AI agent support and the possibility of self-replacing the battery are also announced.
The limited Founder’s Edition will cost $849, with a refundable deposit of $100 required for reservation. After launch, the retail price will increase to $899. Deliveries are scheduled for the summer of 2027 after certification.
The presentation took place against the backdrop of an investigation into the modification of Ledger wallets distributed through third-party sellers in Southeast Asia. The company previously discovered a hardware implant in one of the devices capable of intercepting the seed phrase during setup. The damage is estimated at over $86 million, but Ledger has not confirmed this amount. The company stated that Atom's protection mechanisms, including Core Protection, are intended to prevent such attacks, but their effectiveness has not yet been confirmed by independent tests.
