The South Korean LG Corporation and the American technology giant Nvidia have signed a memorandum of understanding. The parties agreed to expand strategic cooperation in such promising areas as robotics, the creation of factories based on artificial intelligence and mobility technology. LG's official statement was released on Friday. As part of this partnership, the company plans to introduce a new generation bipedal humanoid robot based on the Nvidia Isaac GR00T platform. It is expected that the presentation of the innovative device will take place in the first quarter of 2017. This year, LG will launch a pilot project at its Tennessee plant, where a wheeled robot will be integrated into a washing machine production line to optimize work processes. This will make it possible to evaluate the effectiveness of autonomous systems in real production conditions in practice.

In addition, LG intends to create a reference AI factory facility using the advanced Nvidia Vera Rubin architecture. The launch of this large-scale facility is scheduled for the first half of 2017. In the future, the company plans to significantly expand the capacity of this infrastructure to eighty megawatts in South Korea in the first half of 2017.

The collaboration will also affect the automotive sector, as LG will develop a platform for next-generation vehicles with artificial intelligence based on the Nvidia DRIVE Hyperion system.
