Lisk Shuts Down Lisk Chain and Transitions to a Financial Platform for Businesses

The Lisk project ceased operations of its own second-layer network, Lisk Chain, on November 2, 2026, and focused on a financial platform for businesses. The shutdown was phased: first, user services, including Lisk Portal and Lisk Bridge, were closed, followed by the rest of the network. The LSK token remains in circulation on the Ethereum network.

What will happen to the tokens

After the complete shutdown, about 5.2 million LSK from the staking rewards contract will be burned – these are undistributed or unclaimed rewards. Tokens that users have locked in staking will not be burned. In September, the project already burned 100 million LSK; according to Lisk, the total issuance is 300 million with 0% inflation.

New platform

After ten years of developing network solutions, the team is transitioning to a financial platform that will integrate traditional currencies and stablecoins. Four features are provided: accounts for teams, legal entities, and projects with funding in fiat or stablecoins; payments – bank transfers via ACH, wire, and SEPA, as well as stablecoin payments in more than 100 countries; compliance with general rules and transaction confirmation history; wallets with current prices and custom operation approval rules. The platform is in early access, and applications can be submitted on the Lisk website.

What about LSK and developers

LSK will remain the project's loyalty token, with Ethereum as its main network. From 2027, businesses will be able to earn and spend LSK on the platform. Asset holders remaining in Lisk Chain may face difficulties in returning: the team does not guarantee access recovery. In January 2027, a manual application procedure is planned to be implemented, and instructions will be published. Developers who created projects on Lisk Chain will receive migration assistance from Celo – they can contact through a special form.

Recall: from September 7 to 13, 2026, LSK rose from $0.1 to $2 at its peak – more than 1800%.
