Mastercard Payment Corporation has officially announced the completion of the acquisition of infrastructure provider BVNK. This transaction, with an estimated value of up to $1.8 billion, including conditional payments of $300 million, marks an important milestone in the company's strategy to integrate digital assets into traditional financial systems. The management emphasizes that combining the global payment network with BVNK's on-chain solutions will create the foundation for a more efficient, secure and continuous exchange of value. The initiative aims to bridge the technological gap between classic fiat currencies and new forms of digital value, including stablecoins and tokenized bank deposits.
Mastercard Product Director Jorn Lambert noted that digital currencies are rapidly gaining ground in the segment of cross-border B2B payments, international transfers and corporate liquidity management. BVNK technologies specialize in providing secure storage, movement, and conversion of funds between fiat and cryptocurrency environments while strictly complying with regulatory regulations and compatibility requirements. The integration of these developments will allow banks, fintech companies and corporate clients to scale the use of stablecoins, ensuring seamless interaction of various payment networks. As a result, financial institutions will be able to optimize settlement operations and reduce transaction costs when conducting international transactions.
The initial agreement to purchase BVNK was announced in March 2026. The closing of the transaction confirms the trend towards convergence of traditional financial institutions with digital asset technologies.
