Mastercard and Visa Plan Integration of Hong Kong Stablecoin HKDAP

Hong Kong-based Anchorpoint Financial announced partnerships with Mastercard and Visa to explore the use of the stablecoin HKDAP in international payment networks. Initially, the collaboration will focus on settlements between financial institutions.
According to a press release dated October 30, 2026, the companies intend to explore the application of HKDAP in card issuer settlements. In the future, the technology could enable transactions around the clock, including weekends and holidays, regardless of standard banking hours.
Mastercard is considering the use of HKDAP through the Mastercard Global Money Platform, which combines the company's international payment infrastructure with stablecoin solutions from BVNK. Visa is exploring the potential use of the digital Hong Kong dollar in its own products for settlements and cross-border transfers.
Anchorpoint CEO and co-founder Dominic Maffei noted: “Open and neutral infrastructure will be key to the future of capital movement.”
HKDAP is a regulated stablecoin pegged to the Hong Kong dollar at a 1:1 ratio. Its issuer, Anchorpoint Financial, was established with the participation of Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong), HKT, and Animoca Brands. In April 2026, the company received a license from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA).
Partnerships with Mastercard and Visa could expand the use of HKDAP beyond the cryptocurrency market, primarily in international settlements and corporate liquidity management. However, the discussion is currently focused on exploring possible integrations. The timeline for connecting the stablecoin to global payment networks has not been announced.
