Matera and Solana Introduced Unified QR Payment Standard X9.150

Payment company Matera, digital banking solutions developer Payfinia, and Solana Foundation introduced the new American QR payment standard X9.150 at the Money20/20 USA conference. The standard allows bills to be paid through various payment systems using a single QR code. Available payment methods include bank transfers and USDC on the Solana network.

The standard was approved in July 2026 as part of the X9 committee of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). It aims to simplify payment acceptance: companies will not need to create separate solutions for each payment method. The standard supports FedNow, RTP, ACH transfers, Zelle, and stablecoins.

During the demonstration, a client scanned a QR code on the bill using a banking app or the Squads Altitude crypto wallet and paid it in USDC. The funds were received within seconds, and the company's accounting software automatically marked the bill as paid.

Matera published the source code for the software to work with the X9.150 standard so that other companies can use it in their solutions. Payfinia developed the QR code payment mechanism and tested it in the mobile app of Star One Credit Union. Solana ensures the processing of transactions in USDC.
