Meta has unveiled a major AI-powered update to Facebook, designed to rekindle interest in the aging social network among younger audiences. The main new features are animated avatars, intelligent photo stylization, and dynamic backgrounds for posts. Now static portraits can be “brought to life”: add a wave of the hand, a heart, or a festive accessory — all you need is a clear shot of the person looking at the camera.

The key tool of the update is the Restyle feature based on Meta AI. It allows you to instantly change the lighting, color scheme, or completely replace the background in a photo using ready-made presets or text descriptions.

In addition, Facebook is introducing animated scenes (falling leaves, waves) to decorate text posts in the feed — seasonal variations will appear in the future.
