Major technology companies have announced large-scale investments in the development of artificial intelligence. Microsoft has announced plans to invest $50 billion by the end of the decade in expanding AI capabilities in the Global South.
The announcement was made at an artificial intelligence summit in New Delhi, where representatives of leading technology corporations are discussing the development of the industry with world leaders. The Global South refers to developing and emerging economies, mainly located in the southern hemisphere. The new investments complement the company's existing initiatives in the region.
Qualcomm, in turn, announced the creation of an investment fund of up to $150 million to support Indian startups in the field of AI. India has become one of the largest artificial intelligence markets in terms of user numbers, and companies such as OpenAI are actively attracting audiences with affordable subscriptions.
Qualcomm has a significant presence in the country, with more than 20,000 employees in three cities, and remains one of the beneficiaries of the global AI boom thanks to high demand for modern chips.
