Minsk to resurface nearly 2 million square meters of roads in 2026

Approximately 1.9 million square meters of the capital's road network are planned for 2026, including over 1 million square meters of complete pavement replacement. Preparations for the large-scale repair campaign were discussed at a meeting of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
According to relevant services, the number of potholes has been significantly reduced in recent years. Compared to the same period in 2023, the number of pavement defects has decreased almost threefold. Since the beginning of 2026 alone, approximately 19,900 square meters of critical damage have been repaired. Special asphalt concrete mixtures are used for prompt repairs during the winter season.
The current repair plan is based on the previous years' levels, with a 2-4% increase. A preliminary list of streets requiring major pavement replacement has already been prepared and will be updated following the spring inspection. In addition to asphalt replacement, preventative treatment of roads with a so-called protective layer, which reduces wear and prevents moisture penetration, will continue.
Additionally, approximately 1,300 km of joints and cracks are planned for sealing, which is almost four times the amount of work done three years ago. 220 bus stops will also be replaced. By the end of the year, approximately half of all bus stops in Minsk will comply with the new standard.
