Nvidia and Naver to increase AI infrastructure capacity in South Korea to 200 megawatts

Nvidia, Naver and Brookfield have officially announced a large-scale expansion of computing infrastructure in South Korea. The partners plan to increase the capacity of the GAK Sejong data center under construction from 55 to 200 megawatts by 2028. The total amount of strategic investments in the project is estimated at $ 10 billion, where Nvidia will allocate 1 billion, and Brookfield Corporation will provide project financing in the amount of up to $ 9 billion. The new complex will be built on the NVIDIA DSX platform using Blackwell and Vera Rubin systems, which will effectively serve the needs of both South Korean and international artificial intelligence developers.
In parallel with this project, South Korean technology giants are demonstrating unprecedented activity in the artificial intelligence sector. According to the Reuters news agency, initiatives totaling $950 billion with the participation of Samsung Electronics, SK Group and American technology companies were presented at the AI Summit in San Francisco. In particular, SK Group has signed agreements worth $750 billion, including a large-scale partnership with Nvidia worth more than $ 500 billion to build data centers and supply next-generation memory. In addition, SK Telecom plans to commission a two-gigawatt data center based on Vera Rubin and HBM4 chips by 2027.
Samsung Electronics Corporation has also strengthened its position by signing a memorandum of cooperation with Broadcom worth up to $ 200 billion. This agreement covers the segments of memory manufacturing, contract manufacturing of chips and advanced packaging, and also provides for the joint development of next-generation AI accelerators using a technological process of less than two nanometers. Against the background of such a rapid scaling of industry capacities, experts emphasize the importance of a balanced approach to technology development.
