Nvidia Unveils Jetson Orin Nano 2 Robotics Computer

NvidiaNvidia has announced the release of the Jetson Orin Nano 2 — a robotics computer designed for entry-level edge AI applications. According to the company's official press release, the device delivers 78 trillion operations per second (TOPS) for AI tasks, features 8 gigabytes of RAM, and is powered by an eight-core Arm-architecture processor.

According to Nvidia, the new system delivers twice the inference performance compared to its predecessor — the Jetson Orin Nano Super — while consuming 40% less power at the same 15-watt performance level. The computer retains the compact form factor of previous models and is intended for use in robots, delivery and inspection drones, and computer vision systems. According to the company, more than 3 million developers are already building on Nvidia's robotics stack.

Among the companies exploring the new system's capabilities are machine vision manufacturer Cognex, industrial equipment maker Doosan Bobcat, and robotics company Matic. Wing, a drone delivery subsidiary of Alphabet, plans to evaluate the device for its fleet of aircraft. Wing currently uses the previous-generation Jetson Orin Nano Super in its operations.

"Drone delivery depends on AI that can provide fast and reliable understanding of the real world. Wing is exploring the Jetson Orin Nano 2 to enable more responsive and energy-efficient drones," said Dinuka Abeywardena, Head of Perception at Wing.

Matic Robotics is integrating the new system into its home cleaning robots to enable conversational AI, gesture recognition, and autonomous cleaning capabilities. "With the Jetson Orin Nano 2, Matic can run state-of-the-art AI models at the edge in a compact home robotics platform," said Navnit Dalal, co-founder and CEO of Matic Robotics.

The system supports large language models and vision-language models optimized for edge inference, including Nvidia Cosmos, Nvidia Nemotron, Gemma 4, and Qwen 3. The Jetson Orin Nano 2 module and developer kit are expected to launch in the first half of 2027.
