Old Ether Holders Start Asset Sell-Off

Recent data showed that some early Ether holders have started selling their assets, realizing significant profits. One investor, who invested $56,000 in the project nearly a decade ago, turned his investment into more than $7 million. According to Lookonchain, one of the oldest Ethereum holders sold 3,000 tokens, receiving over $7.2 million for them. The investor initially acquired the tokens for $19 each, securing a profit of nearly 130 times.

Additionally, other early holders continued to sell off. This month, one investor deposited 6,369 ETH, worth about $16 million, on Kraken, having bought them for $14 per token. An Ethereum ICO participant moved 13,330 ETH to Coinbase in October, for which he received over $36 million. These tokens were initially purchased for $0.31 each during the ICO in 2015.

These transfers occur at an interesting time: the price of Ether rose from less than $2,000 to $2,800 over several months, then fell to $2,300 during the recent crash, but has currently recovered to $2,400. In August, one of the ICO participants also transferred all of his 2,000 tokens to Coinbase for $3.77 million, having bought them for $622, securing an increase of more than 6,000 times. This period of active sales highlights a trend among the oldest investors, observed with rising cryptocurrency prices, increasing interest in exiting long-term positions. According to data, such actions already reflect not only personal successes but also a general trend in the Ether market, where old holders are beginning to sell off amid strong price fluctuations and high profits.
