Oman Forms Alliance to Create $500 Million Fund in Central Asia and the Caucasus

The Oman Investment Authority is forming an alliance that includes sovereign funds and investment institutions from international markets to create a fund aimed at raising $500 million for investments in the Central Asia and Caucasus markets. This is a step towards expanding the sultanate's investment presence and diversifying its overseas investments.
As reported by the Oman News Agency on Saturday, the official signing of the agreement to establish the fund is scheduled for early November. The fund will be managed by an Omani company with national personnel.
Target Sectors
The fund is focused on investment opportunities in the logistics, renewable energy, mining, food, agriculture, and healthcare sectors, leveraging economic growth in the region.
Mulham bin Bashir Al-Jarf, Deputy Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority for Investments, noted that leading the alliance reflects the authority's ability to attract capital and build strategic partnerships in promising markets, indicating that the fund will help strengthen economic ties between the sultanate and the countries in the region.
Target Markets
The target markets include Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, with a population exceeding 86 million people and an average economic growth of about 7% in 2025 compared to the global growth of 3.5%, according to the agency's data.
Expansion of Overseas Investments
Companies associated with the Oman Investment Authority, including Asyad Group, Oman Mining Development, and OQ Group, are exploring investment opportunities in the transport, mining, and energy sectors in the region.
The fund is a continuation of investment partnerships concluded by the authority with Uzbekistan in 2009, Azerbaijan in 2025, and Kazakhstan in 2026.
The Oman Investment Authority manages assets worth over 23 billion Omani rials, about two-thirds of which are invested domestically, while the remaining third is allocated to overseas investments through the 'generations portfolio'.
