The Decrypt edition with reference to expert opinion reported that OpenAI did not fulfill the plan for ChatGPT audience and revenue. The company’s CFO, Sarah Frayar, has stated that there is a risk of exceeding computing costs over revenues. The startup initially aimed to attract a billion active users per week by the end of 2025, but this goal was not achieved.

The OpenAI Board of Directors, according to the publication, is concerned about Sam Altman’s efforts to increase computing power while growth slows. Forge CEO Kelly Rodriguez noted that Anthropic outperformed OpenAI in market capitalization - one trillion dollars to $800 billion.

Due to financial uncertainty, OpenAI revised its agreement with Microsoft: the company lost exclusive access to ChatGPT developer products and received a non-exclusive license until 2032. Microsoft’s share in the updated OpenAI framework remained at around 27 percent.
