According to The Information, OpenAI is creating a new direction for consumer electronics. A team of more than 200 developers is working on three devices: a smart speaker with a built-in camera, augmented reality glasses and a desktop lamp with artificial intelligence features. The flagship product will be a column that can scan desktop items, analyze background conversations, and identify the owner by face for secure transactions - just like Apple’s Face ID technology.

The smart glasses will not be available until early 2027 at a price of $200 to $300. Smart glasses will not be available until 2028. The prototype of a smart lamp already exists, but its commercial future remains to be seen. The development of hardware was made possible by last year’s acquisition of io Products for $6.5 billion. 

Despite the considerable resources and involvement of a legendary designer, the project faced several obstacles. Technical difficulties, privacy issues and limited computing capacity for mass production caused delays.
