OpenAI announced ChatGPT for Financial Services. This is a specialized version of ChatGPT Work designed for financial institutions. The product combines the GPT-6 Astra model with built-in financial data, as well as tools for research, modeling, and preparing client materials. The launch aims to strengthen OpenAI's position in the corporate financial sector. Initially, the service is focused on investment banking and stock market analytics. It was developed with the participation of Morgan Stanley and Evercore.
ChatGPT for Financial Services has access to data from Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News, and Crunchbase. These sources cover financial statements, conference transcripts, company metrics, and information on private firms. OpenAI indexes and stores data on its infrastructure, improving search, speed, and accuracy of responses. It is also possible to add links to specific sources, tables, and document fragments.
Financiers will be able to use the service for normalizing P&L, checking adjusted EBITDA, company valuation, profit analysis, and preparing investment materials. GPT-6 Astra can work with tables, figures, and notes, conduct analysis, and convert results into documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
OpenAI is also developing integrations with existing financial data subscriptions. Partners named include S&P Capital IQ, LSEG, MSCI, Dow Jones Factiva, and Moody’s. Joint authorization and access to data that the user already has rights to are planned. The product ecosystem includes more than 50 connectors, including Datasite, Box, Preqin, FactSet, and Intapp. This should reduce manual operations for connecting and searching for information.
OpenAI stated that initial work with Morgan Stanley and Evercore helped identify the main challenges faced by financial teams. Among them are reliable data access and the creation of high-quality ready-made materials. Therefore, the first version of the product focuses on research and investment banking processes. Morgan Stanley noted that the collaboration allows testing new capabilities and adapting the technology to real work. Evercore stated that they are working with OpenAI to use advanced AI to deepen analytics while maintaining professional standards and expert evaluation.
OpenAI plans to use the experience of partnerships to further train models, improve the product, and expand into other categories of financial services. The company also noted that financial institutions and developers can create specialized solutions through the OpenAI API.
To work with financial information, ChatGPT for Financial Services uses security and access management elements from ChatGPT Enterprise. These include SAML SSO, SCIM, role-based access control, data encryption during transmission and storage, and the ability for administrators to configure information retention periods. Business data of companies is not used for model training by default. Compliance teams can export supported workspace logs through the OpenAI Compliance Platform for audits and internal investigations. Administrators can centrally manage access to skills and applications, allow or block read and write operations, and create separate workspaces for information barriers.
The launch of ChatGPT for Financial Services continues OpenAI's strategy to transform ChatGPT from a general chatbot into a working environment for complex professional tasks. In June, it became known that OpenAI is preparing the largest transformation of ChatGPT since its launch in 2022, turning it into a universal AI service with programming, agent functions, third-party applications, and a focus on corporate clients. Previously, the company expanded ChatGPT Work with capabilities for working with files, applications, and multi-step tasks, and now has created a separate version with financial data and tools for banks. Against this backdrop, OpenAI is increasingly integrating AI into financial infrastructure: in August, MoonPay introduced PayBox, a non-custodial wallet that allows cryptocurrency transactions directly in dialogue with ChatGPT and Claude, with plans to add support for Gemini and Grok.
