Pi Network Launches Second Migration Phase for Users

Pi Network continues the second migration of user balances to the Mainnet. The program allows participants who have previously completed the first token transfer to move an additional portion of accumulated PI, including referral rewards that meet the project's requirements.
The phased launch of the second migration began in March 2026. As of March 26, more than 119,000 users have already completed the additional transfer of funds. There are no new confirmed data on the total number of such operations as of November 6.
Unlike the first migration, the second one involves the transfer of additional accruals that were previously unavailable due to the need to verify certain categories of rewards.
In particular, users can receive referral bonuses for invited participants who have successfully completed identity verification (KYC).
However, the size of the transferable balance depends not only on the verification of the account owner. Pi Network takes into account the KYC of the referral team members and the periods during which users simultaneously participated in mining.
Therefore, the amount of PI displayed in the app may differ from the amount deemed eligible for the next migration.
Conditions to be met
To participate in the second migration, a user must have previously completed the first one and confirmed their wallet.
One of the mandatory conditions is two-factor authentication (2FA), which must be completed at the third step of the Mainnet Checklist.
If a trusted email address is not yet specified in the account, the system may require its addition and confirmation.
These measures are intended to reduce the risk of transferring funds to someone else's wallet. After the final confirmation of the transaction on the blockchain, it is technically impossible to return the tokens without the recipient's involvement.
Pi Network also clarifies that the first migration retains priority over repeat transfers. Therefore, completing all checks does not guarantee the immediate crediting of the new balance.
In the future, the project plans to move to regular migrations, but their frequency has not yet been determined.
When migrated PI becomes available for sale
After transferring PI to the Mainnet, a user may see the funds in their wallet, but they may not be able to use them immediately.
Pi Network's documentation provides for a 14-day waiting period after migration. This is necessary for additional security checks and verification of the transfer's correctness.
At the end of this period, some tokens may remain locked in accordance with the user's long-term holding commitments (lockup).
For example, if a user received 1,000 PI and 600 of them are locked for a longer period, after the initial waiting period, only the remaining 400 PI may become available for transfer.
However, the mere appearance of funds in the Mainnet does not mean they have entered the cryptocurrency market.
To sell PI on a centralized exchange, a user must have access to a trading platform that accepts deposits via Pi Mainnet. Regional restrictions, identification requirements, minimum deposit amounts, and the operational status of the relevant network must also be considered.
Even after the tokens are credited to the exchange, the sale will only occur upon the execution of a trade order.
Thus, the increase in the number of migrated PI does not automatically allow for the assessment of future sales volumes. It is necessary to consider how many coins are truly unlocked, how many are entering trading platforms, and what portion of the listed orders are executed.
What Pi Network will present on November 17-19
The first Pi Ecosystem Summit is scheduled for November 17-19, 2026 – an online event dedicated to the development of applications and tools for developers.
Organizers promise to present platform updates, product demonstrations, partner projects, and new opportunities for creating services within the ecosystem.
The summit is not the start date for the second migration, which has been ongoing since March.
However, new applications may expand the ways to use PI beyond exchange trading. The demand for these solutions will depend on their actual availability in the Mainnet and user activity.
To assess the impact of migration on the market, it is important to separately track the volume of new credits, the timing of unlocks, and the inflow of tokens to exchanges. Without this data, it is impossible to determine whether additional migrations will lead to a noticeable increase in the supply of PI on trading platforms.
