The cost of the PlayStation 5 Pro in some European stores has significantly increased over the past few weeks. While at the end of August the console was sold for about €900, now some retailers are listing it at prices ranging from €1290 to €1500. Additionally, some sellers have already run out of stock. The increased interest in the upcoming GTA 6 may have influenced this situation, although no direct link between the game's presentation and the rise in console prices has been confirmed so far. On August 27, Rockstar Games showcased about 25 minutes of gameplay for GTA 6. The project is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, and Sony had previously announced optimization for the PS5 Pro.
Availability issues are also observed with other consoles. The Xbox Series X is offered in some European stores for about €865, with customers having to wait up to two weeks for delivery. Sony has also previously adjusted the price of the PS5 Pro, linking the changes to increased costs for certain components, including RAM and SSDs. The console is currently unavailable in the company's official store, and no timeline for new stock has been announced. The supply situation remains challenging in the American market as well. Meanwhile, standard versions of the PlayStation 5 have also increased in price, although the changes have been less noticeable.
The PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition is currently priced around €570. This model does not have a disc drive and comes with one controller, while German stores are offering it slightly below Sony's recommended price of €600. The Slim version with a disc drive, one controller, and increased storage capacity costs about €620. Thus, the current price range for consoles is related not only to interest in GTA 6 but also to the availability of devices and supply volumes. If new shipments arrive in stores in sufficient quantities, the pricing situation may change.
