PYTH Network continues to recover after bouncing off the support zone at $0.072. At the time of writing, the price of PYTH recorded a 10% increase for the day, surpassing the recent high of $0.089. Although this breakout is a positive sign for the short-term forecast, it is important to maintain the achieved price level for further growth. On the other hand, the growth of open interest (OI), increasing funding rates, and the predominance of long positions indicate that traders expect further gains. These market indicators may contribute to further growth of PYTH.
The network's open interest increased by more than 10% to $17.28 million amid PYTH's price movement. This combination suggests that traders are adding exposure in the futures market rather than simply closing existing positions, which can support a rally when fresh positions coincide with sustained buying demand. However, OI measures only active contracts, not just buying activity. Also, rising OI can increase the risk of liquidation in the event of a market reversal. Rising funding rates and the predominance of long positions complement the situation. PYTH's funding rate recorded weekly positive changes, indicating that perpetual futures prices exceed spot prices due to increased bullish demand. At the same time, long positions account for 67% of the total market volume. This circumstance can increase buying pressure and strengthen the current bullish trend.
Despite these signals supporting the current recovery, with the increase in long trades, PYTH may be at risk of a sharp correction. If the breakout level at $0.089 is maintained and derivative positions continue to support bullish sentiment, PYTH has the opportunity to continue rising to other resistance levels. Otherwise, if demand weakens or there is a change in leverage used, it may lead to profit-taking, which in turn would nullify the breakout. In such a case, attention may shift back to the demand zone at $0.072. While the current price recovery and increase in derivative positions support the bulls, further buying interest will be key going forward.
