The Japanese company Quantum Solutions, whose shares are listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, has sold 1,000 units of the Ether cryptocurrency for a total amount of about $ 1.9 million. The transaction was conducted on July 30, 2026 through GPT's Hong Kong subsidiary Pals Studio at an average price of $1,903 per token. The proceeds will be used to develop businesses in the field of artificial intelligence, in particular, to pay for data center services and purchase high-performance graphics processors. This operation led to a reduction in the organization's cryptocurrency portfolio to 4,764 units of the asset.
As a result of this transaction, Quantum Solutions lost its position as the largest corporate holder of ether in Japan, losing the primacy to the Tokyo-based Def Consulting company, which has 4,976 coins on its balance sheet. The financial results of the transaction will be negative: the organization expects to record a loss of 17 million yen (about 106 thousand dollars) in the second quarter of the fiscal year ending in February 2027. This is due to the fact that the average cost of acquiring these assets previously amounted to $ 3,595 per unit, which is significantly higher than the current selling price.
Despite the reported loss, the company's board of directors expanded the internal limits on the possible sale of digital assets from 1,875 to 4,375 units. Taking into account the previously sold 904 coins, the organization has the right to sell another 2471 units of ether by October 30. The future strategy of monetization of reserves will depend on market conditions, financing needs and the pace of expansion of computing power. Against the macroeconomic background, the market capitalization of ether is estimated at $ 228.06 billion, while the daily trading volume decreased by 28.4 percent to $8.13 billion, reflecting the general trend of institutional restructuring of crypto portfolios.
