Quantus Network Launches QTC Token on NEAR Platform

On October 6, the Quantus network, which positions itself as quantum-resistant, introduced its native token QTC. In the proof-of-work (PoW) system, the total supply will be 21,000,000 QTC tokens, similar to Bitcoin. Initially, 27% of the total supply – 5.67 million tokens – will be unlocked. Of this batch, 4.83 million tokens will be allocated for investors and the team, while the company itself will receive 4% of the total supply, amounting to 840,000 QTC. The remaining 73% (15.3 million) tokens will be mined over time. According to company representatives, the genesis supply will only be available on the cross-chain platform NEAR Intents on the debut day.

In choosing the NEAR platform for the debut, Quantus CEO Christopher Smith noted in a press release that Near.com promotes the original idea of permissionless markets, allowing users to exchange assets between networks without relying on centralized exchanges. He added that QTC could bring quantum security to a significantly broader on-chain market without violating the principles on which it was built.

The team positions QTC as a "quantum-resistant asset," which distinguishes it from most blockchains that may be at risk from future quantum computers, including Bitcoin. Alex Shevchenko, CEO of Defuse Labs, the developer of NEAR Intents, supported the ethics of QTC and its plans, noting that quantum-resistant assets matter only if they can be accessed from what users already have. The NEAR Intents platform achieved a record of $4.8 billion in trading volume on DEX in September, highlighting the growing popularity of the ecosystem. Against this backdrop of success, Bitwise introduced an ETF on NEAR, offering investors access to meta-narratives about privacy, quantum security, and AI that drive the network.
