
QuFi Network has unveiled a new post-quantum verification platform aimed at protecting digital assets from threats associated with the advancement of quantum technologies. The system is designed in such a way that it does not require modifications to existing blockchains in order to implement post-quantum solutions. During practical testing of the technology, the Bitcoin Testnet4 test network is being used, where QuFi demonstrated the operation of its system. The primary goal is to ensure the security of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, against potential attacks from quantum computers, which may in the future threaten traditional encryption methods.
The key concept behind QuFi's development is the separation of transaction verification from transaction execution. The platform operates on the basis of a network of independent nodes that perform cryptographic verification before funds are transmitted to the blockchain. This allows blockchains to be offloaded and improves the efficiency of processing the increased data volumes associated with post-quantum cryptography. During testing, a prototype called uBTC was created, which verifies the presence of BTC as collateral and generates cryptographic proofs for their transfer. It should be noted that this system operates exclusively under test conditions, and full deployment on the Bitcoin mainnet remains a long way off.
The presented platform utilizes three standards developed by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology to ensure security: ML-DSA-65 for digital signatures, SLH-DSA for hash-based signatures, and ML-KEM-1024 for secure key exchange. Although QuFi is taking important steps toward implementing post-quantum protection, it currently remains at the testing stage. The company also plans to expand the functionality of its platform to other networks, such as EVM and Solana, as well as launch a Genesis Node program for operators who will support the decentralized verification network. As ForkLog reports, it is too early to speak of full post-quantum protection for Bitcoin based on this test alone, but QuFi's work represents an important step in that direction.
