Rain, a company specializing in infrastructure for stablecoin payments, has announced the launch of the Agentic Payments Alliance (APA). This alliance will focus on developing standards for trading using AI‑based agents. Among the initial participants are major players such as Visa, Mastercard, Circle, Solana, and Remitly. Avalanche, Chainalysis, Fiserv, Fireblocks, Uniswap Labs, and Turnkey have also joined the initiative.

The main goal of the alliance will be to study the mechanisms that enable AI agents to make payments on behalf of users. Special attention will be paid to issues related to authorization, fraud protection, identification, and the issuance of bonuses and rewards within loyalty programs. APA will operate as a joint initiative under the management of the founding companies, conducting research, developing common standards, and testing solutions for the secure identification and authorization of AI agents. The alliance will also address issues related to regulating such payments.

Rain has already developed its own Agent Control Layer and Scoped Cards systems, which allow it to provide AI agents with the necessary payment data while simultaneously limiting their access to core funds. Members of the new alliance will also gain early access to the Rain Agentic Startup Program, which supports startups developing solutions for trading using artificial intelligence.
