Ripple Releases White Paper on Tokenization for DFSA

Ripple participated in the preparation of a white paper commissioned by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA). The publication gathers insights and observations from leading financial sector experts, including Rhys Merrick, Managing Director of Ripple in the Middle East and Africa. He noted that the primary focus is not only on the growth of tokenized government bonds and money market funds (MMFs) but also on their use as collateral in repo and margin transactions without the need for prior conversion to cash. This is based on the fact that repo markets continue to process trillions of dollars daily, and Merrick highlighted this as a potential direction for tokenization.
According to the DFSA report, the tokenization of traditional financial assets has the potential to become a significant development in major financial markets, providing greater access for investors, increasing efficiency for issuers and intermediaries, and reducing risks in specific areas, especially in settlement conditions. Merrick expects significant growth in this direction over the next 12 months and predicts that a substantial portion of this growth will occur on the XRP Ledger. As a result, there is a possibility that with successful framework conditions and reliable settlement assets such as RLUSD, the United Arab Emirates, DIFC, and Ripple will be at the forefront of this important stage.
According to scenarios from the Citi Institute, the global market for tokenized financial assets could reach $5.5 trillion by 2030, while a report by Standard Chartered and Synpulse estimates the demand for tokenized assets at $30.1 trillion by 2034. These figures underscore the growing interest in tokenization in the financial sector, opening up new opportunities for investors and developing the market.
