Robinhood Crypto announced that it is exploring the possibility of creating a tokenized product based on an exchange-traded fund (ETF) in collaboration with asset management company T Rowe Price, which manages $1.9 trillion. Discussions between the companies took place on October 9. If successfully implemented, this will be Robinhood's first tokenized product linked to an actively managed exchange-traded fund.
As of the end of August 2026, T Rowe Price managed assets of approximately $1.9 trillion. The proposed product will operate on the Robinhood Chain blockchain, which is a second layer of Ethereum. Robinhood emphasized that the launch requires legal checks, approval from the issuer's board of directors, final determination of terms, and necessary regulatory approvals. In its statement, the company noted that there is no guarantee of obtaining all necessary approvals. The collaboration involves T Rowe Price Digital Assets, a division focused on digital assets. Robinhood is considering entering the actively managed exchange-traded funds market, allowing professional managers to decide which securities to buy, hold, or sell.
The current structure of Robinhood's tokenized stocks is not available to American investors: regulations restrict the offering to eligible clients outside the US, including Canada, the UK, and Switzerland. Robinhood confirmed that it will continue to expand its blockchain technology services outside the US and add new trading and lending products. In October, Robinhood reported that trading activity with tokenized stocks is approaching the limits under the US Securities and Exchange Commission's exemption concerning certain tokenized stocks.
