Samsung Electro-Mechanics has signed an agreement with an international company to supply electronic components with a total value of 285 billion South Korean won, which is approximately $210 million. The contract covers the period from January 1 to December 31, 2027. Under the deal, the manufacturer will supply multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) and inductors, but the name of the customer and detailed commercial terms of the agreement are not disclosed. The company explained this by commercial confidentiality requirements. The value of the new contract is equivalent to approximately 2.5% of Samsung Electro-Mechanics' consolidated revenue for 2025, which amounted to 11.31 trillion won. Thus, the agreement provides for a significant volume of supplies, calculated for continuous order fulfillment throughout the next year.
MLCCs are passive electronic components used to manage electrical signal characteristics and stabilize power in various devices. Within electronic systems, these capacitors help smooth out voltage fluctuations and reduce the impact of interference on the operation of individual units. Inductors perform a different function: they oppose rapid changes in electric current and are also used in power and signal processing circuits. Both types of components are in demand in smartphones, automotive electronics, computing, and other devices. Their quantity and characteristics depend on the specific equipment design, so major component manufacturers work simultaneously with several segments of the electronics industry.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics did not disclose for which end devices the components under the new contract are intended. The delivery period from the beginning of 2027 to the end of December suggests long-term fulfillment of the agreement, but its terms do not allow determining the distribution of orders between MLCCs and inductors. The company also did not report whether the volume of supplies will be evenly distributed across all quarters. It was separately noted the movement of Samsung Electro-Mechanics shares: as of 07:58 Moscow time, the shares were trading approximately 0.9% higher, at the level of 1.512 million won. The dynamics of quotations reflect the market condition at a specific moment and do not determine the economic result of the contract itself.
