The fortune of the creator of bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, has noticeably decreased due to the sharp drop in the exchange rate of the first cryptocurrency. The market price of this digital asset has dropped by forty-eight percent from its all-time high. About one million ninety-six thousand coins are stored on the public wallets of the mysterious founder of the network. At a record market price, the total value of these assets reached one hundred and thirty-eight billion dollars. In August, the current valuation of the portfolio dropped to seventy-one billion US dollars. The corresponding financial losses amounted to about sixty-seven billion US dollars. All the collected coins still remain completely untouched at their original addresses. Consequently, the current losses of the creator of the network remain exclusively unrealized on paper. The base bitcoin is currently trading at the price levels of September 2000. The current drawdown of the coin turned out to be noticeably smaller than the previous bearish cycles with an eighty percent drop.

The current situation on the open market does not look too optimistic for most bidders. Rafael Schulze-Kraft, co-founder of the Glassnode analytical platform, explains this with weak interest from investors. Spot trading volumes and daily turnover ratio have remained extremely low in recent weeks. Overall activity in popular bitcoin-based spot exchange-traded funds has also decreased markedly. Overall, the market is strongly dominated by pronounced bearish sentiment among active bidders. In the long term, a gradual recovery of quotations is possible, provided global demand increases. Strategy continues to consistently dispose of its large reserves of the first cryptocurrency. The organization sold one thousand six hundred and ninety bitcoins in the period from the third to the ninth of August. These funds were used to buy back their own shares on an open stock exchange. Now the dollar reserve of this organization has grown steadily to four billion six hundred and fifty million. At the same time, the reserves of the first cryptocurrency fell to eight hundred and forty thousand four hundred and forty-seven coins.

Strategy's actions reflect a broader picture of the cautious behavior of large holders amid ongoing instability. Many market participants are taking a wait-and-see attitude, assessing further macroeconomic signals. Digital assets are traditionally characterized by high volatility, and the current movement of bitcoin is another confirmation of this. Investors are still closely monitoring the balance of supply and demand, as well as the actions of institutional players. Such cooling periods have been replaced by recovery more than once, but stable fundamental drivers are needed to change the mood.
