The official Shiba Inu account on X followed the new meme token WOOF, resulting in a 971% price increase over 24 hours. WOOF, which trades in pairs with SHIB, was created this month and has fewer than 700 followers, making it less known until recently. The WOOF account on X follows only one profile, and its description indicates that the token is related to SHIB. The pinned post features the contract address, which is confirmed by data from DEX Screener.
WOOF is an ERC-20 token with a fixed supply of 1 billion. The main pool on Uniswap v4 opened on September 28, 2026. This pool connects the token with SHIB rather than ETH or a stablecoin. As a result, buyers need SHIB to access the deepest market for WOOF. The SHIB pair has unlocked about $180,000 in liquidity and recorded around $1.5 million in trading volume over the past 24 hours. Recorded purchases exceeded sales 2,653 to 1,875. The market capitalization of the token is approximately $1.1 million, with 882 holders, according to Etherscan data. Such low liquidity can amplify price fluctuations in both directions. The contract code includes restrictions on buying and holding, as well as a protection mechanism at the launch stage.
For SHIB, this moment is significant as the use of the second-layer network Shibarium has significantly decreased this year. At the same time, the team recently noted that community activity played a role in the recent price increase of SHIB, which, however, still lags behind the market. Against this backdrop, the new SHIB pair provides holders with another avenue to utilize their tokens. However, the fact of following does not imply endorsement. At this point, the Shiba Inu team has not clarified why they followed WOOF. A key question for traders remains whether the demand for the token will persist once the attention to it wanes. A cooling of the hype cycle could significantly impact such a low-liquidity market.
