Shiba Inu (SHIB) experienced a period of zero burns, which quickly changed when the burn address received new tokens. On Saturday, the Shiba Inu burn tracker reported token burns amounting to $0 over 24 hours, indicating a pause in burns. However, shortly after, a transaction occurred in which 20,408,894 SHIB were burned by an unknown address '0x8172'. In the last 24 hours, 20.41 million SHIB were burned, leading to a 725% increase in the daily burn rate, ending the period of zero activity for this meme coin.
Over the past week, 87.64 million SHIB were burned, and over 30 days – about 693.20 million SHIB, adding to the total burned tokens of 410,845,045,282,575 SHIB. Shiba Inu continues to make a significant contribution to SHIB burns. According to long-time Shiba Inu community member Mazreal, “work is still ongoing to create a community burn portal.” This is happening despite the ShibTorch burn mechanism, based on Shibarium, being under maintenance, according to Mazreal, while work is being done on the bridge and other parts of the infrastructure. Within the ecosystem, 69.32 billion SHIB have been burned, which at the time of burning amounted to $1.27 million. At the time of writing, SHIB lost 3.92% over the last 24 hours, with its price at $0.000004919 amid increased sell-offs in the crypto market.
Investors continue to express dissatisfaction with the massive debts that tech companies incur to finance their AI networks. This sentiment has also affected the digital asset market, where most cryptocurrencies have shown a decline since mid-week. In particular, the price of Shiba Inu decreased on Saturday, reaching an intraday low of $0.00000485. This week, SHIB experienced price fluctuations, starting with a rise at the beginning of the week, followed by a sharp drop on Wednesday, then a recovery, and another drop.
