According to Blockworks, Solana has surpassed Robinhood Chain in the number of tokenized stockholders. The Solana network has registered over 1.5 million such holders, slightly above Robinhood Chain's approximately 1.48 million. BNB Chain remains the leader with 1.93 million holders.
Robinhood took the lead in July when the hype around meme stocks on its platform pushed the number of holders above Solana's level. Since then, Robinhood Chain held the top spot and did not yield it to Solana until now. The gap is currently small, about 23,000 holders, but Solana's growth rate is noticeable. In October alone, the network added over 260,000 holders. This figure is five times the number when Robinhood Chain first took the lead.
In total, there are 5.13 million tokenized stockholders across all networks, with Solana accounting for 29 percent. Activity is concentrated on three networks, while Base and Ethereum lag significantly, each having less than 80,000 holders.
One of the main reasons for the growth has been the expanded range of stocks. In September, Backpack Securities and Sunrise brought 20 new tickers to the blockchain, including Nike, Micron, and Moderna. Backpack CEO Armani Ferrante expressed a desire to move the entire stock market to Solana, increasing the number of stocks from 200 to 10,000 as the next step. More names give people more reasons to enter the network. Just a few months ago, a Solana user wanting access to stocks had a much shorter list to choose from. Today, they can find consumer and healthcare sector stocks on the same network they already use for everything else.
Access to stocks has improved just as quickly. They can be bought and traded in apps familiar to every Solana user, including Raydium, Jupiter, and Phantom. Only Kraken Wallet offers more than 700 xStocks. Placing stocks on the same exchange screen as stablecoins simplifies the experience, and holder data shows that people are taking advantage of this.
On September 17, the SEC introduced a five-year conditional framework for trading tokenized stocks. At that time, the number of holders in Solana had not yet reached 1 million. This milestone was surpassed about a week later, and a significant portion of the growth to 1.5 million occurred after this. Regulatory clarity usually brings issuers and frontends before users, and the timeline of events in Solana closely follows this order.
