Solana (SOL), one of the leading layer-one blockchains, has sharply increased its transaction activity: the number of non-voting transactions more than doubled compared to the end of 2025. According to the official Solana account on X, in the third quarter of 2026, the network processed 8.92 billion such transactions.
Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko, known as Toly, reacted to the milestone characteristically briefly: "Put the cryptography into the computer." It seems he was marking the growing adoption and activity of the blockchain.
A 104% increase is a significant rise compared to approximately 4.38 billion transactions in the fourth quarter of 2025. In the first quarter of 2026, 7.54 billion were recorded, and in the second quarter, 7.19 billion. Thus, in the third quarter, activity grew by approximately 24% compared to the previous one, reversing the decline of the previous quarter.
Non-voting transactions are important for assessing blockchain activity: they exclude routine voting transactions used by validators to maintain consensus. Instead, they reflect token transfers, decentralized application operations, trading, and other interactions with the blockchain.
The fresh figures indicate sustained demand for Solana's infrastructure. According to Solana Compass, in September alone, the blockchain processed about 3.18 billion completed non-voting transactions – the third consecutive monthly record. However, the increase in the number of transactions does not necessarily mean an equivalent increase in the number of individual users: a significant portion of the network's activity may be driven by automated trading bots.
Solana's native token, SOL, was trading around $104 on October 19 with a market capitalization of approximately $61 billion.
