South Korean law enforcement has charged a 30-year-old man with attempting to kill his business partner. According to the investigation, during a meeting in Seoul, the suspect poured methomyl - a toxic pesticide - into the coffee of the companion. After drinking a drink, the victim lost consciousness and fell into a coma for three days, he is now continuing his treatment in hospital.
The conflict between businessmen arose amid the large losses from investing in Bitcoin. Since 2022, they have jointly managed investment programs but lost more than 1.17 billion Korean Won (about $816,000), including personal funds and company capital. After the incident, the victim single-handedly took charge of the finances, and his partner, wanting to regain control, decided to commit a crime.
The case file has been submitted to the court, and a hearing is scheduled for March 10. The accused faces life imprisonment for the counts of attempted murder and violation of pesticide law.
