Over the past week, Strategy acquired 2,486 BTC worth $168.4 million. The average transaction price was $67,710 per coin. The corporation has been implementing its strategy of accumulating the first cryptocurrency since August 2020. After the latest replenishment of its portfolio, the total volume of reserves reached 717,131 BTC. The company has allocated approximately $54.5 billion to build up this reserve, which corresponds to an average price of about $76,027 per Bitcoin.
Strategy clarified that the new acquisitions were financed through the placement of shares. The company sold $95.5 million worth of MSTR common stock and another $78.4 million worth of STRC preferred stock.
Strategy founder and chairman Michael Saylor said the company could remain stable even if Bitcoin fell to $8,000. Some experts, including trader Vladimir Cohen, consider such statements to be part of a marketing strategy. In their opinion, the key risks are related not so much to the depth of the correction as to the duration of the downtrend and possible investor disappointment.
At the time of publication, BTC is trading near $67,000. Since the beginning of the year, the asset has fallen in price by almost 23%, and February may be the fifth consecutive month that the cryptocurrency ends in the red, according to CoinGlass data.
