The Telegram messenger has sent an application to the international organization ICANN for registration of its own .gram domain zone. If the initiative is approved, users and channels of the platform will be able to receive full-fledged web addresses based on their names. For example, the @durov account will have the durov.gram address. The company plans to link user names in the messenger to Internet addresses that will work outside of the application itself - in browsers, search engines, and links on third–party platforms.

According to Telegram founder Pavel Durov, the new domains will make it possible to create interactive websites and landing pages directly through the messenger. To launch a page, users will only need to send a single message to a special bot, which will eliminate the need for separate development and paying for hosting services. Thus, Telegram aims to turn internal user and channel names into universal web addresses accessible from anywhere on the internet, which could significantly simplify content publishing and expand the platform’s ecosystem beyond the familiar messenger interface.
